In the field of optical fiber communication, the wavelength used is in the near-infrared region, and the two commonly used communication windows are 980nm and 1550nm. If you want to use light sources in these two bands for optical information transmission at the same time, there is a product that can do it. This product is an integrated optical fiber device IWDM.
So what exactly is IWDM? What are its advantages? This is one aspect of information we need to know. In simple terms, the fiber hybrid is composed of three parts: reflective end, isolation core and collimator. The appearance structure of the product is a 1*2 structure, and the specific structure diagram is as follows:
IWDM can be divided into forward and backward, as shown in the optical path diagram below, and can be manufactured according to specific needs.
In actual use, the light source at the signal end comes in from the common end, and two different wavelength bands of light will be separated from the pumping section and the transmission end, respectively 980nm and 1550nm for optical communication. If used in the manufacture of EDFA, this device plays the role of wavelength division multiplexing and optical isolation, and the pump light can be incident on the erbium-doped fiber to play the role of optical amplification. Because there is an isolation core inside the device of the product, it can reduce the interference of reflected light on the optical signal at the light source end, and the product has the advantage of high isolation.
At present, the products produced by our company can have a minimum product size of 2.2*25mm, which can reduce the size of the entire EDFA module. The product has the characteristics of low loss, low polarization, high isolation, and small size. The relevant performance parameters can meet the following requirements:
